NEW INFORMATION REGARDING PAIN MEDICATION
Over the years, patients suffering from joint and muscle problems have struggled to find relief, both before and after surgery. Many of these patients prefer the convenience of pain medications, but are unaware of the negative physical and psychological effects of prolonged use.
This year the CDC launched an initiative encouraging healthcare providers to offer pain-relief alternatives to patients. The goal is to reduce patients’ use of opioid (narcotic) medications such as Lortab, Vicodin, and Demerol, since these can have serious side effects on the human body including digestive problems, neurological problems, and addiction.
Remobility wants to be part of this process by educating the community on how physical therapy can help to reduce pain. For example, if you are suffering from severe back pain, it is vital to monitor your posture and make sure that you know how to move objects around you without making your back pain worse. Our staff can teach you proper body mechanics for daily activities such as driving, carrying groceries, using your work space, proper sit behind your desk and other situations. Although we cannot guarantee complete relief (each case is different), we can show you what to do to minimize the pain.
We offer non-invasive services like e-stim, therapeutic ultrasound, iontophoresis, and kinesio-taping. Would you like to learn more? Feel free to give us a call and we will be more than happy to give you an evaluation, or discuss with your Primary Care Physician which options are available to you.
